DIF 2007

Lois and I attended the Dublin Irish Festival in Columbus, OH during the first weekend of August. The highlights were Teada, Eileen Ivers, Niamh Parsons, and Boys of the Lough, though there were many talented performers in attendance. We thoroughly enjoyed this festival and I'm quite sure that we will attend it on many occasions in the future.

A few tunes

I've been picking up a few new tunes to play at sessions - jigs, hornpipes and reels:

Banish Misfortune - favorite Major jig
Strayaway Child - favorite minor jig
Swallowtail Jig
Garrett Barry's
Chief O'Neill's Favorite
Cronin's Hornpipe
Brenda Stubbert's
Silver Spear

Tzigane

I have discovered a very nice set of strings, called Tzigane. They are manufactured in Denmark by Larsen and are similar to gut strings in their performance and tone. They are low tension and have a sweet, slightly dark sound, hence the name. One other nice thing is that these strings are lower in cost than Evah Pirazzi or Obligato strings.
